Olszewski Issues Statement in Observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day
January 20, 2025
(Washington, DC) — Congressman Johnny Olszewski today issued the following statement commemorating Martin Luther King Jr. Day:
“Today, we honor the life and work of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., whose dream of a more just and equitable nation continues to inspire us all. Dr. King’s legacy is a call to action — to challenge injustice wherever it exists, to seek unity over division, and to ensure every voice is heard and valued in our democracy.
As a former American government teacher and county executive, I have always believed in the strength of our democratic institutions and the importance of upholding the will of the people. Today, as I attend the inauguration of the 47th President-elect, I do so with a commitment to the values Dr. King championed and with respect for the decision made by voters across the country. The peaceful transfer of power is a foundation of our democracy, and our branches of government must work together to serve the American people. I look forward to leveraging all opportunities to collaborate on common sense policies that protect our freedoms and improve the lives of hard-working Americans.
As we reflect on Dr. King’s vision of a more just and inclusive society, let us recommit ourselves to rising above our differences to build a future rooted in hope, equality, and opportunity for all.”
