(Washington, DC) – Bipartisan legislation led by first-term Maryland Congressman Johnny Olszewski to help convert vacant and blighted properties into attainable housing will become his first to be enacted into law.
The Revitalizing Empty Structures Into Desirable Environments (RESIDE) Act was included in the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act, legislation broadly supported by lawmakers from both parties to increase the nation's housing supply, revitalize vacant properties, and help lower housing costs for working families.

The Oversight and Transparency for Small Business Certifications Act of 2026 passed the House by voice vote and now heads to the U.S.

The funding will help these departments address staffing shortages, provide training, and purchase equipment to increase DNA processing capacity.
