(Washington, DC) – Maryland Congressman Johnny Olszewski today voted in support of a bipartisan $38.6 billion funding bill that includes at least $8.2 million in targeted investments for Maryland’s Second District, supporting local law enforcement, crime prevention, and critical infrastructure improvements. The funding is part of an appropriations package covering the Commerce, Justice, Science; Energy and Water Development; and Interior and Environment bills, which passed the House in a 397–28 vote and now advances to the U.S. Senate for consideration.

The funding will enhance departments’ emergency response capabilities through hiring, training, and acquisition of critical emergency equipment.

Earlier this week, President Trump pardoned former Honduran President Juan Orlando Hernández, who had been at the center of one of the world’s largest and most violent drug-trafficking conspiracies.
