Project Name: Enhancing Nursing Education with Advanced Simulation and Skills Equipment and Technology

Project Description: The funding would be used to equip McDaniel’s new nursing education facility with advanced medical equipment and technology for simulation labs, skills labs and active learning classrooms. The project is an appropriate use of taxpayer funds because the equipment and technology for the labs and classrooms will enhance hands-on nursing training and increase the number of bachelor’s prepared nurses entering today’s technologically advanced health care workforce. The hands-on learning provided by this equipment and technology has proven to prepare nurses far better than a traditional classroom. This is especially critical in rural Carroll County as they are facing health worker shortages.

Project Description: The funding would be used to build a Veterans Center to serve veterans and their families. The project is an appropriate use of taxpayer funds because Veterans defended our nation and it is necessary we assist them as they transition to civilian life through employment programs, education, meeting rooms, and communal areas. Carroll County is rural and therefore Veterans lack access to resources available in more populated areas of the State of Maryland.

Project Description: Funds would be used to support the construction of an addition to the current Carroll County Youth Service Bureau Building. The project is an appropriate use of taxpayer funds because it will enable the expansion of programming to meet the community’s growing need for evidence-based mental health and substance use services to individuals and families across rural Carroll County.

Project Description: Funds will be used for the expansion of the Group Violence Reduction Strategy across all remaining districts in the City of Baltimore. The project is an appropriate use of taxpayer funds because this is an evidence-based practice to reduce gun violence by engaging resources to those that want to change and hold accountable those that do not.

Project Description: Funds will go towards the replacement of the City’s aging Computer-Aided Dispatch System that is nearly twenty years old. The project is an appropriate use of taxpayer funds because this system is used by fire, police, and other city agencies to allow calls for service to prioritize and record as an emergency or non-emergency incident.

Project Description: Funds will be used to enhance Center of Hope’s network of violence intervention and prevention programs focused on intimate partner violence, child abuse and exploitation, elder justice, human trafficking, and community violence. The project is an appropriate use of taxpayer funds because it will establish a 24-hour centralized intake system, enhance hospital outreach, and implement program evaluations to improve healthcare coordination, reduce disparities, and connect individuals with critical safety resources.

Project Name: Forensics Science Program

Project Description: Funds will procure forensics laboratory equipment. The project is an appropriate use of taxpayer funds because it will facilitate implementation of state-of-the-art academic curriculum and research for undergraduate and graduate students and to support the development of a Forensic Science Training Center that can be used by local law enforcement agencies and partners.

Project Description: Funds will be used to make upgrades to an aging water and sewer system including well exploration and testing and addressing lead and copper issues. The project is an appropriate use of taxpayer funds because it will increase the quality and quantity of water and decrease sewer treatment expenses.

Project Description: Funds will be used to support the first indirect water reuse facility in Maryland. Providing a permanent drought-resistant water source. The project is an appropriate use of taxpayer funds because this facility will provide an additional 1 million gallons of water service to 38,000 users within Carroll County.

The project is an appropriate use of taxpayer funds because it will address critical workforce shortages among tradespeople (manufacturing, welding, plumbing, carpentry, and automotive/electric vehicle). It will increase economic development.

The project is an appropriate use of taxpayer funds because it will enhance safety, visibility, and aesthetics. This upgrade supports economic revitalization, pedestrian accessibility, and historic preservation, creating a more vibrant and welcoming Main Street for residents, businesses, and visitors.

Project Description: Funds will be used to purchase the land necessary to improve the interchange. The project is an appropriate use of taxpayer funds because it will improve traffic flow, reduce congestion, and enhance accessibility in the Owings Mills area of Baltimore County promoting economic growth.
