Olszewski Issues Statement Following Reported Strikes on Iranian Nuclear Sites

June 21, 2025

(Washington, DC) — Congressman Johnny Olszewski, a member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, issued the following statement following President Donald Trump's announcement of targeted strikes in Iran:

"Iran – a known state sponsor of terrorism –  must never be allowed to obtain a nuclear weapon. To date, I have received no actionable intelligence suggesting Iran’s nuclear weapon capabilities were imminent.

The Constitution is clear: only Congress has the authority to approve any sustained military action. President Trump failed to seek such approval and has an obligation to provide Members of Congress and the American people with clear and compelling justification for these unilateral strikes.

I pray for the safety of our troops, the American people and our allies in the region and beyond.”
