Olszewski Named to House Foreign Affairs and Small Business Committees

(Washington, DC) – Congressman Johnny Olszewski, Jr. today announced his appointment to the House Foreign Affairs and Small Business Committees for the 119th Congress, where he will work on critical issues ranging from Main Street America to the furthest reaches of the globe.

The Small Business Committee has oversight and legislative jurisdiction over the Small Business Administration and its programs. It also works to help small businesses engage in the government procurement and contracting process – a top priority for Congressman Olszewski, who doubled Baltimore County’s minority and women-owned business participation goals as its executive.

“As a member of this committee, I will continue to champion our local small business owners, innovators and entrepreneurs,” Congressman Olszewski said. “Our small businesses aren’t just the backbone of our economy and our primary jobs-generator -- they help define the characters of our communities, sponsor local sports teams and provide unique goods and services.  My work will ensure they get the support they need and the fairness they deserve from Washington.”

The House Foreign Affairs Committee oversees foreign assistance programs and has broad jurisdiction over war powers, treaties, the deployment of the Armed Forces as well as peacekeeping and diplomatic efforts. It legislates arms control, certain export regulations and much more.
