Klausmeier is expected to be sworn in this afternoon following an official vote by the council and will serve the remainder of Congressman Olszewski’s term through 2026.

(Washington, D.C.) – Congressman Johnny Olszewski, Jr. today was sworn into the 119th session of the U.S. House of Representatives, taking the oath of office for his first two-year term representing Maryland’s Second District, which includes the majority of Baltimore and Carroll Counties as well as portions of Baltimore City.
“I think the speaker fight is a good proxy for the challenges of this Congress,” said new Rep. Johnny Olszewski (D-2nd), citing the closely divided House several hours before the vote.
