Observance of the Federal Holiday in honor of President George Washington's Birthday.
(Washington, D.C.) – Congressman Johnny Olszewski, Jr. today was sworn into the 119th session of the U.S. House of Representatives, taking the oath of office for his first two-year term representing Maryland’s Second District, which includes the majority of Baltimore and Carroll Counties as well as portions of Baltimore City.
“I think the speaker fight is a good proxy for the challenges of this Congress,” said new Rep. Johnny Olszewski (D-2nd), citing the closely divided House several hours before the vote.
Today, New Democrat Coalition (NDC) Chair Brad Schneider (IL-10) issued a statement following the swearing in ceremony of all 110 New Dem Members in the 119th Congress – including 25 freshman Members:
“I am thrilled to congratulate and welcome the 25 new Members joining Congress and our New Dem Coalition today. This Freshman class represents one of the largest in New Dems history – each unique and exceptional in their own right.
